This issue explores artists' take on color and light, how it factors into their work and life. Color and light are forever inter-twined as they define each other. One of the best examples is the cover to Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of The Moon. This cover shows a beam of entering a prism and exiting as six different colors. Light hitting a prism, in actuality, will enter as a continuous set of colors. As our life takes in many different inputs and from it, we have a continuously changing set of moods. From one there are many! Contributors to this issue include: AuksOne / Michael Alan / Anirudh 'Eka' Dhullipalla / Atiba T. Edwards Christian Ericson / Simone Frame / Jordan Kifer / Allison Maritza Lasky / Dolly Martinez / Kristine Palma / Kerff Petit-Frere / Kira Pearson / Gail Ressler / Filipa Silva / Tessa Horschfeld-Stoler / Stephanie Winbush / Jozi Zwerdling

Ground and Water is the theme of this issue of INSIGHT magazine. Ground and water are key parts of the fabric of the world and all of its animals (including humans). If you are a believer of the evolution process, we evolved out of water to walk on land and create our future. If you don't ascribe to that science, you still must acknowledge that these two elements of life are essential to life and were pivotal in the first things created. We always give our artists creative license with their interpretation of the theme. Turn the pages and see how artists from across the globe respond to the call for Ground and Water art work for this issue of INSIGHT magazine.

This issue features a great mix of artists' interpretation of the theme Monsters and Fairies, ranging from the cover artist's "Shed Disguise" to poetry to a monster family series to fairies in real life and more. In this issue of INSIGHT, every artist has a personal story to tell that expands on what we consider when thinking about monsters and fairies. Growing up we are often taught a clear delineation between monsters and fairies. Monsters are usually males (when human), evil and generally grotesque in looks. Fairies are nice and friendly, generally provide some benefit or improvement to life and are generally beautiful. The truth is that we each embody both a monster and a fairy, dark and light, and we continuously work to keep the balance in check. This balance is mediated by the masks that we often carry around and wear depending on the situation and our own internal feeling. Enjoy.

Fire has a bad reputation for the destruction it can cause to people, places and things. Yet out of a seemingly simple phenomena there is an undeniable beauty that rises out of the ashes created by fire. This is the phoenix - a beautiful bird that soars from the valley of the ashes of its predecessor. Contributing Artists: Sophia Allison / T Cleo Austin / Eleanor Bennett / Suhaly Bautista / R. Issue 29's cover is a piece titled "(untitled) rememories #4" that was designed by Sonia Louise Daves. The theme of this issue was community, how community and the individual interacts and the role a community plays in your life. We interviewed Dennis Manarchy and Chad Tepley about their Vanishing Cultures project which captures vanishing communities across the U.S. using a 35-foot long camera. Rebecca Simon, an emerging visual artist, shares her paintings which are metaphors of cultural identity. We also examine the larger community - the animal kingdom - and our place in it. Mr. Bee, the head barber at Frank's Chop Shop, sheds light on why the barbershop plays such a pivotal role in the community and discusses how the Lower East Side has changed over the past decade. ANG, Sophia Domeville, dreXeL, Katie Mazikins, Nelson Santiago give a visual definition of the individual and community. Chuk Agubokwu, Patrick Jöst and Sophia Nahli examine the role of individuals play in the creatio

INSIGHT Volume IV | Issue 4 kicks off with Marthalicia Matarrita's "Early Hip-Hop" piece. Andrew Milenius recounts his surprise trip from Ann Arbor, Michigan to Occupy Wall Street in New York. Wax Poetics' Andre Torres worked in the World Trade Center just months before 9/11 and saw the reason he was sitting here today was to follow through his dream. We talked with him about the role Wax Poetics brand plays in perserving Hip-Hop and bringing an array of music to us to avoid it from slipping through the cracks. Photography covers three different personal topics ranging from kids (The Earth Warrior); female's hidden identity (Jolie Clifford) and a spiritual journey in Spain (Jordan Kifer). Every artist's journey runs into the fork in the road when we stop and ask 'what are we doing?' and 'can I make a living on art?' Syma talks about monetizing her art. Jenny Buccos and ProjectExplorer sat down with us to talk about how they were using video as an educational tool before YouTube and other technology rose to prominence. Eleanor Bennett is a 15 year old photo prodigy and her work must be seen to get a glimpse of the talent and the impact of art on her life. James Edwin, Al Jane Hamilton, Priz and Robert Daniels all channel their youth, travels, experiences and visions onto canvas and through the camera lens.
